Welcome to AuroraScreen! This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our website.
Information We Collect
When you use AuroraScreen, we collect the following types of information:
- Account Information: When you sign up, we collect your email address and a hashed password. We use this solely for authentication purposes to secure your account and allow you to log in.
- User-Generated Data: To provide the core features of AuroraScreen, we store
information you generate, such as:
- Movies and TV shows added to your "Watch Later" list.
- Content you mark as "Liked".
- Your viewing progress for movies and TV shows ("Continue Watching").
- Technical Data (via Cloudflare): Like most websites, we use Cloudflare for security and performance. Cloudflare may process technical information like your IP address. We do not directly use this information to track you. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect strictly for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain the AuroraScreen service (authentication, saving your lists and progress).
- To secure your account and prevent unauthorized access.
- To improve the performance and security of our website (via Cloudflare).
- (New) Aggregated Feature Display: We may aggregate anonymized "liked" data across users to display features such as a "Viewers' Favorites" section. This feature **will not** display individual user information (like names or emails) associated with the liked items. It only uses collective counts to highlight popular content.
We do not share your personal information (like your email address or your individual user-generated lists/progress) with any third-party companies or services**, except as necessary to provide the service itself (explained below).
Third-Party Services
- Firebase (Google Cloud): Used for Authentication and Firestore Database storage. Governed by Google Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare: Used for performance and security.
- The Movie Database (TMDB): Used to fetch movie/TV data. We do not send your personal data to TMDB. See TMDB API Terms of Use.
Data Storage and Security
Your account information and user-generated data are stored securely within Firebase Firestore, protected by Firebase's security measures and our own security rules which restrict access. We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no online service can be 100% secure.
Some non-sensitive preferences (like view settings or autoplay) might be stored locally in your browser's `localStorage`.
Your Data Rights
You have control over your data:
- Access and Modification: You can view and manage your Watch Later, Liked Content, and Continue Watching lists directly within your Profile page on AuroraScreen.
- Data Deletion: You can delete individual items from your lists using the "Edit" and remove functions on your Profile page. You can also use the "Clear All My Data" option in the Settings tab of your Profile page to permanently delete all your stored data (Watch Later, Liked, Progress) from both your device's local storage and our Firebase database. Please use this option with caution as it cannot be undone. You can also request account deletion by contacting us (see below).
Children's Privacy
AuroraScreen is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the relevant age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
